History of the label: The label is a depiction of the greek traditional shadow theater, called Karagiozis, a representation of the Greek common people during the Ottoman rule. Despite it's simplicity, this shadow play managed to truthfully illustrate the different aspects of the society. The shadow play red, is a single variety wine, simple yet complex and authentic expression of the greek indigenous variety Xinomavro.
Tasting notes:
Rich light red colour, with complex aromas of small red fruits, vanilla, plums, tomato and black olive. Full-bodied with well integrated tannins and longlasting aftertaste.
Winemaking report:
Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration with the skins during the whole fermentation time, no oenological substances added. The produced wine are aged for 12 months in old barrels. Battonage sur lie for 3 months.
