Virginia is finally getting in on the Orange Wine shenanigans! Our first release of Mise was heartily embraced by young and old, all across the Commonwealth, and we are psyched to release this second installment. This year, the warm and dry vintage yielded riper, more robust fruit, which created more pronounced phenolics and a slightly grippier wine. We think it’s a compelling evolution which will take those initial Mise loyalists on a journey to understand vintage subtleties.
The name, Mise, is a term that has followed CWC partner Lee Campbell around for her entire food-and-wine-dominated professional life, and, as a natural-born Francophile, even prior. “Mise en place,” “mise en bouteille,” “mise the table”... mise, mise, mise. The word is derived from the French for “putting something in its place.” But don’t limit Mise to any particular occasion or pairing… like Baby, she doesn’t like to be put in a corner.
